So if you had told me that one day I would have a child and that she would only eat milk that came from me and baby food that I personally made, I would have laughed in your face! I'm just too busy to mess with all that!
But, look who's laughing now! I have successfully managed to have Rane strictly on breast milk and have a deep freezer full of reserves that will hopefully last her another 5 months (until she is 1yr) I have also managed to make all of her baby food for the last month and a half and am really enjoying it! So far I have managed Sweet Potatoes, Butternut Squash, Apples, Pears, Green Beans, Peas, Avocado, Mangoes and Bananas. Not all of them have been a hit, but hey, what kid really likes green beans?! I'm pretty proud of myself and it hasn't really been that difficult! I am thrilled that Rane gets to eat FRESH food and that I can help develop her palette for food. It has taken some practice to get the food just right, but she seems happy to eat almost anything I put in front of her. Her favorites though are apples and pears although she hasnt yet tried the mangoes and avocado. The latest joke at her school however was last week when I showed up with her juice for the first time. I was asked if I had pressed it fresh from the apple that morning! HAHA! Im not THAT good, but I am proud of the healthy start I am giving my child with respect to her food intake!
For anyone out there who has done this before and has a recommendation for what else she might enjoy that I could make for her, PLEASE let me know! As soon as spring arrives, I know I will have a much better selection of produce at my disposal and I want to experiment with as much as I can to expose her to all sorts of flavors!
